Cracked Alloy Wheel welding

All cracked wheels are inspected before any work is accepted. Each wheel is cleaned and visually assessed, and crack locations are identified and marked. Where necessary, dye penetrant testing is used to confirm the full extent of the damage. Wheels with cracks in structurally critical areas (spokes, hub, or extreme edge damage) may be rejected on safety grounds.

The repair area is then prepared by removing contamination and fatigued metal to create a clean weld path. Repairs are then TIG welded for maximum accuracy and penetration. Once welded, the repair is machined smooth, rechecked for integrity, and pressure-tested where required.

Completing hundreds of wheel welds each week across East Yorkshire for main dealers, tyre shops, garages, fleet operators, and private vehicles. Every job is completed to a consistent professional standard, but as stated, all cracked wheel repairs remain temporary and should be replaced at the earliest opportunity.

Where applicable we will provide the replacement part no. for the vehicle.

We do not remove or refit tyres in-house. All tyre removal and refitting is carried out by a partner tyre shop to ensure correct handling and safety. If, during removal, any internal tyre damage is found—including sidewall damage from being driven flat—the tyre will not be refitted under any circumstances. In this case, we will either provide a replacement tyre price or return the wheel and tyre to you unfitted for your own arrangement. After welding and tyre refit, every wheel is balanced and checked for straightness before return. Wheels supplied without tyres are not balanced or tested.

You will be expected to sign a disclaimer before any work is carried out.

ALL WHEEL REPAIRS ARE TEMPORARY

All alloy wheel crack repairs are classified as temporary only, without exception. A cracked wheel has already suffered structural failure and welding does not restore original manufacturer strength or integrity. For this reason, no guarantee can be given regarding the lifespan of any wheel repair.

All work is carried out to a professional standard using controlled TIG welding procedures, however the heat-affected zone in aluminium remains a known structural risk. Welded wheels must therefore be regarded as a short-term measure only and should be replaced at the earliest opportunity. Safety takes priority over appearance or cost.

ALLOY WHEEL REPAIR DISCLAIMER

This document outlines the terms and limitations of our alloy wheel crack welding service. By proceeding with the repair, the customer acknowledges full understanding and acceptance of all conditions stated below.

  1. Nature of Repair

    • Alloy wheel crack welding is a temporary structural repair intended to restore functionality, not to return the wheel to its original manufacturer condition or strength.

    • The weld area remains a potential weak point and may re-crack under stress, impact, corrosion, or extended use.

  2. Customer Responsibility

    • The customer is solely responsible for ongoing visual inspections and monitoring of the wheel after repair.

    • The customer must check for air loss, vibration, noise, or any new cracks before and after each use.

    • The customer agrees to cease using the vehicle immediately if any defect or loss of air pressure is noticed and to seek further professional assessment.

  3. Paint, Finish, and Cosmetic Damage

    • The welding process involves high temperatures and surface preparation that may damage paint, lacquer, powder coating, or cosmetic finishes.

    • We do not cover any damage to paintwork or coatings, including blistering, peeling, discoloration, or bubbling.

    • Previously repaired or poorly painted wheels are at higher risk of visible damage.

  4. Tyres, Valves, and Associated Components

    • We do not accept responsibility for any tyre or valve damage, including that caused by prior low pressure, punctures, corrosion, or poor condition.

    • Tyre removal, fitting, or balancing is carried out by third-party contractors at the customer’s expense.

    • If a tyre is deemed unsafe or unfit for refitting, replacement costs are the responsibility of the customer.

  5. Call-Out and Inspection Charges

    • If we attend a call-out and the wheel is found not to be cracked or not repairable, a travel and inspection fee will still apply.

    • If a wheel is deemed unsafe to weld (e.g., due to multiple cracks, severe corrosion, distortion, or prior repairs), we reserve the right to refuse service while still charging for attendance.

  6. Post-Repair Limitations

    • We do not guarantee that the wheel will remain air-tight, structurally sound, or free from future cracking.

    • No warranty or guarantee is implied or provided beyond the immediate completion of the repair and confirmation that the wheel holds air at that time.

    • The wheel must be professionally balanced before further use. Continued use without balancing may cause vibration or further structural issues.

  7. Liability and Risk

    • All repairs are carried out at the customer’s own risk.

    • We are not liable for any subsequent damage, accident, injury, or loss of any kind arising directly or indirectly from the repair.

    • We accept no responsibility for loss of vehicle use, towing costs, transport delays, or consequential losses of any nature.

    • Customers understand that welded wheels are not suitable for high-performance or high-speed use, track driving, or heavy loads.

  8. Environmental and Safety Conditions

    • Welding is performed in controlled conditions where possible. However, on-site call-outs may limit control over environmental factors such as wind, dust, temperature, or lighting, which can affect cosmetic results.

    • The customer acknowledges that outdoor or roadside welding may leave visible heat marks or discoloration.

  9. Inspection and Acceptance

    • Upon completion, the customer (or representative) must inspect the wheel and confirm acceptance of the repair before reinstallation.

    • By accepting the completed repair, the customer confirms they understand the temporary nature of the work and the associated risks.

  10. Legal Notice

  • This disclaimer forms part of the service agreement between the repair provider and the customer.

  • Acceptance of service constitutes full release of liability for the repair provider and acknowledgment that this service is performed without warranty, guarantee, or assurance of long-term safety or performance.
